The Joke of Dizzy Rascal On News Night

The night when the world celebrated the landslide victory of President- Elect Barack Obama, the BBC decided to make a joke of what this win meant to people of Britiain by choosing rapper Dizzy Racal as the voice of black people.

On BBC 2, the popular political commentary show News Night featured an interview with Baroness Amos, the former leader of the House of Lords and Dizzy Rascal, commenting about their feelings on whether Britain could have a black Prime Minister.

I, like many others was ashamed of how Dizzy Rascal came across in the show. Fair enough he was just being himself, and no one ever told him he was going to have to become a political commentator.

It is true that if he was to have been any different, people would have been wondering what was wrong. However to me the blame lies completely with the BBC.

Voice of Young Britain

If they wanted to have a commentary from young Britain, there is no way they could say that he was the perfect choice for the voice of young people.

He was not taking it seriously and Jeremy Paxman definitely was not taking it seriously. Even Baroness Amos was embarrassed.

If this is what the BBC call hard news, they should be ashamed of themselves. Usually the BBC can be depended on to be a perfect representation of what news should be, but on that occassion they were seriously lacking.

Will Britain's First Black Prime Minister Please Stand Up

In the giddy aftermath of Barack Obama becoming the first Black President of America, it has raised questions of whether now is the time for Britain to experience the same.

However to my way of thinking Britain has already overcome many of the barriers that have been holding black people back in the United States.

Britain already has a good number of intelligent and influential black people within the highest ranks in the country, ranging from the media, politics and business.

For a long time people in Britain have felt that they were always a step or two behind America, however in many cases I think we are ahead.

Obama Makes History

As everyone who breathes must know already, Senator Barack Obama is the new President of The United States.

He has made history by being the first Black (or mixed raced,) President of America, he now stands as the epitome of what perseverance, faith and belief in oneself can bring.

The world watched with pride as the best man won the race for the White House, (or the Black House as many are beginning to call it,) and celebrated knowing that we had all just watched history in the making.

Obama now stands as the role model our black youths needed to give them the idea that anything is possible, and to never think that reaching new heights is impossible.

Determination makes anything possible, and the world stood as witnesses to the personification of determination.

People all over the world felt the truimph as their own, and took pride in the moment, knowing that they had just witnessed a tremendous change.

A message that is being passed around sums it up perfectly: Rosa sat so Martin could march...Martin marched so Obama could run... Obama is running so our children can fly.

Say it with me "We Shall Overcome, Yes We Can!!"

Obama For President, I Sure Hope So

Once again Barack Obama has risen to the challenge and proved himself to be the educated man that he is, showing that he is capable of leading America.

As the two political opponents came head to head yesterday to debate on subjects such as the economy and the Iraq war, Obama was clearly in the lead.


He answered his questions honestly and sincerely, looking calm and relaxed. While his opponent looked somewhat uncomfortable and edgy, often pacing the stage.

I am so glad that throughout this battle for the white house Obama has been able to rise above the sometimes pityful and irrelevant attempts to degrade his character.


Quite frankly on this side of the pond he's come off looking classy and fully capable of doing of the job and handling all the scrutiny the job entails.

Hopefully after all the effort he as well as his supporters have put into this campaign and displaying his worthy, it doesn't become a case of people reverting back to ignorance.
